Joe Laughlin

Joe InkJoe Laughlin is the founding Artistic Director of Joe Ink . A particularly versatile choreographer, Joe has received numerous commissions to create for dance, theatre, and arts organizations including the Canada Dance Festival, the National Arts Centre, Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the Johannesburg based company Moving into Dance Mophatong among others.

He has created several productions for Joe Ink most recently (in)habitat, Timber/Timbre and the interactive Media/Dance show GRACE. His works have been performed throughout Canada, in the US, the UK, Europe, South Africa and South Korea. Joe recieved the 2006 Isadora Award for excellence in choreography, the Jacqueline Lemieux prize from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Banff Centre for the Arts Clifford E. Lee Award.

Well known for his personable teaching style, Joe’s ability to inspire dancers and non-dancers alike to discover their individual movement potential is one of his unique talents. His passion for working with communities led him to create  Move It!
